10 Minute Play: Toni's Party Traditions

[Scene starts with a group of girls waking up to an alarm of a j-pop song]

MAY
[making morning mumbling sounds as she reached for her phone to shut off the alarm]

Hey guys, time to get up...

[CASSIE, ANNA, WINERY, CRYSTAL, KARI and RUBY all start to get up, some faster than others]

CRYSTAL
[stretches] What time is it? [sleepy]

MAY

Its 10:30 Crystal.

CASSIE

[sighes] Yea, I guess we should wake up now...[yawns]

[as the girls wake-up they notice that Toni hasn't gotten up yet]

MAY & KARI
[at the same time] WAKE UP!

TONI
[grumbles]

[while MAY and KARI continue to pester TONI to get up the rest of the girls get ready for the day]

RUBY
[goes over to TONI and whines]

Get up I want to start the fight!

TONI
[angry grumbles and then burrows deeper into her blankets]

CASSIE & WINERY
[looks at one another and smiles]

Then why don't we just start?

ANNA
[smiles funny]

Yes, lets...
[grabs a bag of marshmallows and rips it open takes one out and throws it at TONI's form]

TONI

eep!! ... ow...

[everyone goes still, waiting for something to signal the start of the "fight"]

CASSIE
[slowly starts to sneak over to the spot she usally is in when this happens while grabbing a bag]

[All the sudden everyone but CASSIE starts moving in on TONI then they start their attack on TONI and one another]

RUBY
[laughs]

Time to wake-
[gets hit on the butt with a marshmallow]

CASSIE
[starts laughing]

I GOT YOU IN THE BUTT!!
[laughs again and then gets hit by a marshmallow]
HEY!
[laughs]

[WINERY, CRYSTAL and KARI move to the other side of the room so they can have more space to move]

TONI

Nya nya you can't get me...eep!!
[holds up her blanket just in time to deflect some marshmallows]

CRYSTAL

Wow its almost like a war...

CASSIE
[snickers]

yea...FRIENDLY FIRE!!
[throws one at CRYSTAL]

ANNA

AH HA!
[looks down shirt, laughs]
There's one down my shirt!

[everyone laughs]

CASSIE
[throws one at ANNA]

HA! I got your butt!!
[laughs]

RUBY
[throws one at CASSIE]

Oh snap face shot!
[does a happy dance]

CASSIE

OH Kari...guess what?!

KARI
[looks at CASSIE]

Nani?

CASSIE
[smiles]

Kip, kip, kip, kip, kip, kip, kip, kip

KARI
[while CASSIE is saying 'kip']

STOP!!! please! why must you do this?!?!

RUBY

Guys! guys...check it out... so I heard ya like mudkips?

GROUP

Would ya ever want a mudkip? ...... WELL WE JUST HAPPEN TO BE MUDKIPS!!

KARI
[in a sing-song voice]

oh Cassie...

CASSIE
[in a sing-song voice]

whatie?

ANNA

MARSHMALLOW TO THE FACE!!!
[throws at CASSIE before KARI can respond]

KARI

Anna...I wanted to do that...

RUBY

Toni...whats for breakfast? I'm hungry...

TONI
[thinks for a minute]

Doughnuts...

CRYSTAL

[to MAY]

Does sempi like sprinkles doughnuts?

MAY

How did you know?!

RUBY

She's just that good i guess...

TONI
[stomach rumbles]

I'm hungry...

KARI

Toni you are always hungry...

TONIS MOM

Guys the cinnamon rolls are done...

RUBY

You said we were having doughnuts...

TONI
[laughs and smiles]

I guess we will have to wait 'till next time...
